Drying and Cleaning a Flooded Basement in Palatine
As seen in the Before photo, this basement in Palatine suffered a flood from a sump pump failure, with lots of standing water throughout when SERVPRO first arrived. Because the water had been left standing for quite some time, the quality of the water had degraded to a severely contaminated level.
The first step was to remove the contaminated water using a truck-mounted water extraction system. Afterwards, demolition of unsalvageable material was performed, and the underlying structure and floors were heavily scrubbed and decontaminated. Drying equipment was then placed for three days to dry the structure and reduce the humidity level to normal.
The After photo shows the basement after water damage restoration has been performed, showing the removed material and cleaned floors and walls.
